The 44th Sun Moon Lake International Swimming Carnival was grandly held on September 20th! This year, it attracted as many as 21,700 swimmers from 38 countries worldwide to take on the challenge. To ensure everyone could swim happily and safely, the organizers have made new upgrades to water safety protection and completion rewards this year. 📌 Event Highlights and Exciting Race Recap: First-ever 'Real-name Dual Chip System': Anti-loss system upgraded! Swimmers must wear one chip on their wrist and attach another to their float board. Both must be sensed accurately upon entering and exiting the water, allowing organizers to precisely track each participant's location. Completion Medals Added for the First Time: In addition to the traditional completion certificates, physical 'Swimming Carnival Medals' are being awarded for the first time this year, turning the sense of accomplishment from self-challenge into a real life medal. Distinguished Swimmers Gather: Zhao Weixin, a 43-year-old from Spain, was the first to finish in 56 minutes and 27 seconds. Lin Ting'en, a 16-year-old from Tamsui, came in second on his birthday. Additionally, Li Ziqian, the first female swimmer to finish, and Zhang Weijie, the first swimmer with a disability to compete for the 14th time and who sprinted with a butterfly stroke near the finish line, all demonstrated moving perseverance. 💡 Editor's Note: The Sun Moon Lake Swimming Carnival is not only an internationally renowned water event in Taiwan but also an achievement that many people must unlock in their lifetime. Seeing a 76-year-old elder from Japan travel from afar, and 197 friends with disabilities bravely challenge themselves, perfectly embodies Zhang Weijie's words: 'What others can do, we can do too!' This passion, unconstrained by physical conditions, deserves our greatest applause. 🗣️ Discussion Time for RtiTalk Readers: Often called the 'Passionate Trilogy' that Taiwanese people must complete (climbing Yushan, cycling around Taiwan, swimming across Sun Moon Lake), which of these have you unlocked so far? What are your thoughts or suggestions for those who cannot swim at all and successfully completed the 3km swim relying only on float boards and willpower? Feel free to share your passion list and challenge experiences in the comments below! 👇
