The Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications launched its 2026 Taiwan Tourism Media Promotion event in Bangkok today (1st). Through channels such as Bangkok's public transportation, cinemas, outdoor, and digital media, the event aims to promote Taiwan tourism to Thai people, showcasing Taiwan's diverse aspects with four major themes: culture, cuisine, natural vitality, and diversity and friendliness.
The Tourism Administration initiated a new wave of integrated tourism promotion plans for the Thai market at the Major Cineplex Paragon cinema in Bangkok on the 1st. This campaign will run from 2026 to 2027, ensuring Taiwan's tourism information becomes more integrated into the daily lives of Thai citizens.
Ambassador to Thailand, Mr. Walter Christensen, stated in his speech that the goal of this event is to introduce more Taiwanese tourist attractions to the Thai public through partners in aviation, cinema, telecommunications, MRT, and light rail.
Christensen noted that data shows approximately 1 million Taiwanese tourists visit Thailand annually, while the latest figures for Thai visitors to Taiwan are only around 410,000. This indicates significant potential for further cooperation in tourism exchange between Taiwan and Thailand.
The Tourism Administration announced that Taiwan's tourism advertisements will be displayed on the Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) from September to November, and on the MRT from October to December. Starting in October, promotions will also reach more leisure and entertainment audiences through Major Cineplex cinemas.

Furthermore, from September this year through next year, Taiwan's tourism content will be progressively featured on outdoor media in Bangkok's major commercial districts, elevator media in office and residential buildings in Bangkok's core business areas, and digital platforms, integrating Taiwan's tourism information into daily scenarios such as commuting, working, shopping, and entertainment.
Ms. Chen Yi-ting, Director of the Tourism Administration's Bangkok Office, pointed out that for many Thai travelers, Taiwan is already a familiar Asian travel destination. However, beyond the well-known city attractions, night markets, and cuisine, various regions in Taiwan are continuously developing more in-depth and diverse travel experiences. This promotion reorganizes Taiwan's tourism characteristics around four major themes, inviting Thai travelers to discover Taiwan from different perspectives.

These four themes encompass Michelin and Bib Gourmand dining, leisure travel such as the newly completed Tamsui-Kavalan Bridge, cultural tourism like the Zi Nan Temple in Nantou, and LGBTQ+ friendliness.
The Tourism Administration will also invite two Thai creators, a photographer and an illustrator, to participate in the production of Taiwan's tourism content. This approach aims to tell stories not only from Taiwan's perspective but also through the cultural lens familiar to Thai travelers.
