Let Every Voice Be Heard: RtiTalk Platform Creates Taiwan's Largest Multilingual Ecosystem

Radio Taiwan International (RTI) officially launched the "RtiTalk New Resident Information Platform" today (29th) and initiated the "Partners 100 Co-creation Partner Program," inviting government agencies, universities, new resident groups, non-profit organizations, and others to join hands in building Taiwan's largest multilingual information co-creation ecosystem. RTI was selected to receive support from Google's Taiwan News Digital Empowerment Fund in 2025 for its "New Resident Information Co-creation Project." Based on this, RtiTalk was developed, utilizing AI technology to break down language barriers, enabling people from different linguistic backgrounds to read, communicate, discuss, and co-create within the same public space. Lai Hsiu-ju, Chairperson of Radio Taiwan International (RTI), stated that the number of new residents and migrant workers in Taiwan has exceeded one million, and their voices and needs should be heard and seen. RTI's launch of this co-creation platform aims to provide a space for new residents and migrant workers to express themselves, vote, submit contributions, and share their opinions on public affairs in Taiwan, fostering mutual understanding among people of different languages. She said: "(Original sound) This is an AI platform with a cacophony of voices, but it will undergo professional human correction. We will also upload important news daily and conduct checks. We hope this platform will foster much discussion and become a place for you to meet new friends in Taiwan." Chi Hui-jung, Vice Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission, stated that Taiwan is already an immigrant society. She believes that through this platform, everyone will be treated more fairly and receive equal rights, considering it a good start. In addition to the launch of the "RtiTalk New Resident Information Platform," RTI also initiated the "Partners 100 Co-creation Partner Program." The first wave of co-creation partners covers diverse fields including public media, higher education, new resident groups, human rights organizations, cultural spaces, and representatives of new residents. New resident author Lily highly praised the platform. She shared her experience of being mistreated by her employer shortly after arriving in Taiwan, feeling wronged and unsure of what to do. Now, with such a platform, there is a channel for expression. She said: "(Original sound) I hope that new residents and migrant workers can bravely share their stories so that they can be seen and heard. I know they have many things going on, but they dare not speak out, they dare not... they keep it inside. Like when I had many problems before, like my first employer treated me badly, I didn't know how to ask for help. Now with this platform, everyone can communicate." Huang Yueh-li, Director of the Educational Radio Station, who attended the event, mentioned that the Educational Radio Station has long focused on new resident issues. In the future, this platform can allow everyone to share information and participate in voting activities, believing it will better meet the needs of new residents. Hung Man-chih, Chairperson of the Nanyang Sisters Association, also expressed hope that the platform will not only facilitate cultural and informational exchange but also provide a space for new residents to discuss and voice their opinions, enabling new resident sisters to stand up and fight for their rightful rights.
