Following controversy sparked by Chinese fans chasing celebrities at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Thailand, the incident continues to escalate. Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow stated today (5th) that similar incidents have occurred before, and the Chinese Ambassador to Thailand should help explain the situation to the Chinese public and foster understanding, rather than making statements that exacerbate social division.
A group of Chinese fans, while chasing celebrities at Suvarnabhumi Airport on the evening of July 29th, violated airport and airline safety regulations. As a result, 22 individuals were denied boarding, causing flight delays. This incident has continued to draw public attention and is further discussed due to a video showing a Thai airport security officer being criticized for actions perceived as racially discriminatory.

According to reports from Thai media such as The Standard and Khaosod English, Sihasak stated today at the Government Complex that such incidents are not unprecedented and affect the feelings of the Thai public. He mentioned that he had discussed related issues with the Chinese Ambassador to Thailand, considering it a highly sensitive matter. He believes the Chinese Ambassador to Thailand should step forward to explain the situation and promote mutual understanding, rather than solely protecting Chinese interests.
He said, "The Ambassador's public statements must also consider their responsibilities and avoid making remarks that heighten tensions. I believe the Ambassador understands this, just as the Thai Ambassador to China has a responsibility to maintain good relations between the two countries."
Sihasak also stated that Thailand will enforce immigration and entry regulations according to the law, while also ensuring that travelers have a good impression during their stay in Thailand and upon their return, striking a balance between legal enforcement and traveler convenience.
Incidents involving Chinese fans causing controversy in Thailand are frequent. Another incident occurred on July 25th, when a Chinese female fan attending a fan meeting for an artist under Thailand's GMMTV was reportedly taken away by staff and restrained on the ground for allegedly cutting in line, sparking controversy.
The organizer initially stated that they do not support any form of violence and deeply regretted the incident. On July 28th, they issued a follow-up statement indicating that the involved fan and staff reached a consensus through police mediation, and the incident was temporarily resolved.
