The 2026 Taiwan Creative Content Expo brand exhibition runs from the 6th to the 12th at Hall 1 of the Nangang Exhibition Center. This year, centered around "IP Licensing" and "Creative Brands," the exhibition scale has reached a new high, gathering over 870 brands and more than 1,200 booths. It attracted 53 international brands from Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Macau, and invited over 80 international professional buyers to Taiwan. It is expected to facilitate over 640 business matchmaking sessions, demonstrating the strength of Taiwan's creative industries in continuously expanding internationally.
Popular illustrator KINGJUN, who is exhibiting, has also created an exhibition area with his new IP character "NOMA the Greedy Cat" this year, themed "World of Desires." He said: "(Original sound) We've extended our IP characters a bit, with a new one called NOMA the Greedy Cat. It's an extension to the expo; it's so greedy that the entire black hole world opens up, creating the current situation. So, various characters enter their world of desires, and everyone who comes here can open up their true inner desires."
Another highlight of the expo is the newly launched "Black Tide Star Paradise - Fantasy Star Theater." Jiang Ching-sung, Director of the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Division of the Ministry of Culture, stated that "Black Tide Star Paradise" is entering its second year. This year's biggest feature is the aggregation of significant achievements from the Ministry of Culture's Black Tide IP Project launched in 2024. It not only brings together over 30 original Taiwanese IPs but also integrates animation, cultural technology, and multi-person interactive VR content, aiming to create a platform that combines licensing transactions with immersive experiences. Jiang Ching-sung said: "(Original sound) Our main focus this year is a grand gathering, bringing together the achievements of the Black Tide (Project) from 2024 onwards. Including from last year to this year, about thirty-odd companies have joined. So you see a lot, and what they present are mostly exquisite products. The second part is that we also have some animations in LaLaport, provided for visitors to watch in the form of animated series."
Jiang Ching-sung also mentioned that the "Black Tide Store," launched for the first time this year, brings together 19 Taiwanese character IPs and over 420 licensed products, satisfying all needs from character merchandise and daily necessities to limited collectibles. Each product is a result of market licensing and verification, representing that Taiwanese IPs have gradually established a business model. The goal is to let more people see the development potential of original Taiwanese characters and to support Taiwanese IPs together.
In addition to visiting the exhibition and shopping, this year's expo also features over 70 activities, including creator autograph sessions, character meet-and-greets, cultural lectures, workshops, and new book launches. Ah Cho Puppet Theater, Juju, Lu Ren, as well as Japan's Kumamon and South Korea's popular character Mr. Donothing, will make appearances, accompanying the public in the liveliest Taiwanese IP event of the summer.
