[International] Tragedy as Migrants Flood Ceuta, Death Toll Rises to 80

AFP reported that a Spanish legal body said on the 6th that the death toll from an unprecedented influx of tens of thousands of migrants into Ceuta, a Spanish enclave in North Africa, has increased by 2 to 80.
Since July 30, many have drowned while trying to swim around a barrier in the Mediterranean. These scenes have caused divisions between Spain and some EU countries that are calling for a tougher stance on illegal immigration.
A Spanish legal body composed of forensic doctors and experts from the Civil Guard, responsible for identification, issued a statement stating that since the incident, Ceuta authorities have recovered 80 bodies from the sea.
The statement also said that forensic experts have autopsied 80 out of a total of 82 bodies, two of which were found before this wave of refugees arrived, and have identified 4 deceased individuals.
The additional 2 bodies will be autopsied on the 7th.
The Moroccan Ministry of Interior has stated that 11 people died on the Moroccan side of the border, all of whom drowned, with only one exception.
Spain stated that 70,000 out of the 72,000 people who arrived in Ceuta have returned to Morocco.
AFP reporters in Ceuta found that stranded individuals, including hundreds of unaccompanied children, face extremely harsh living conditions with difficulties in accessing shelter, food, drinking water, and sanitation facilities. (Editor: Zhong Jinlong)
