Typhoon 'Dolphin' Approaches Taiwan, Marine Warning Expected at 2:30 PM 🌀🌊

The Taiwan Meteorological Agency expects that if the direction and speed of Typhoon "DOLPHIN" align with projections, a marine typhoon warning will be issued at 2:30 PM today (August 7th). The areas initially affected will be the northeastern sea, eastern sea, and potentially the northern sea. A land warning is highly likely to cover the Matsu Islands between the night of August 8th and the morning of August 9th. As of 8:00 AM, the typhoon's center was located at latitude 27.1 degrees North and longitude 128.9 degrees East, moving westward at a speed of 13 kilometers per hour. Although the typhoon's intensity has slightly weakened, its path remains subject to change. A slight southward shift could bring it closer to Taiwan's coast. The typhoon is expected to be closest to Taiwan Island between the night of August 8th and August 9th, approximately 300 kilometers away. The Meteorological Agency warns that from today until August 10th, the northern coastal areas, eastern coastal areas, Green Island, Orchid Island, and the Hengchun Peninsula will experience long swells. During the weekend, similar swells may extend to the north-central coast and the Penghu Islands. On land, although the impact will not be severe today, many areas in the west, northeast, as well as Kinmen and Matsu, will experience intermittent rain. During the weekend, when the typhoon is closest, northern areas and central mountainous regions have a chance of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, especially in the northern mountainous areas of Taichung. Meanwhile, several coastal areas, including the northern coast, Green Island, and Matsu, may experience gusts of level 9-10. Areas like Yilan, Hualien, and Taitung, which are on the leeward side of the typhoon, might experience unusually high temperatures due to Foehn winds.
