A shooting occurred today (7th) at a secondary school in Nonthaburi Province, Thailand, with the death toll rising to 7, including 3 teachers, 3 students, and the student gunman. Thai Public Television (Thai PBS) confirmed that the death toll from the school shooting, which has shocked Thai society, has climbed to 7, with 15 others injured. However, the police have not yet officially released the final casualty figures. Preliminary reports indicate that a student opened fire on teachers within the school, resulting in multiple casualties. Reports state that the deceased include 3 teachers, 3 students, and the 9th-grade student gunman. The gunman initially hid on campus. A student told the media that the gunman, wearing athletic attire, fired dozens of shots within the school before fleeing. Other students told Reuters that they initially mistook the gunshots for firecrackers or someone hitting something, "At first, we didn't think it was gunshots." Officials emphasized that the shooting is still under investigation and urged the public to await official news. It is currently being investigated whether the gunman died by suicide or was shot by police. In recent years, Thailand has experienced several fatal shooting incidents. The most recent school shooting occurred in February this year when a gunman entered a school in Hat Yai, Songkhla Province, opening fire and causing the death of the principal and injuries to 2 others.
