The Tourism Administration of Taiwan held a travel sharing session at a shopping mall in Bangkok on the 8th, featuring LGBTQ+ friendly experiences as one of the themes. Through Thai influencers sharing their travel experiences in Taiwan, and collaborating with airlines, accommodations, catering, and travel platforms, they aim to attract Thai tourists to visit Taiwan and tap into the potentially lucrative "rainbow economy." On the 8th, the Tourism Administration of Taiwan, with the concept of "A Hundred Flavors of Taiwan," invited four Thai influencers, each with millions of followers, to introduce themed tours including food, culture, wellness, and LGBTQ+. Among them, Thai celebrity Koendanai and his companion experienced the "Waves of Love" route, visiting Taiwan's rainbow landmarks and gender-friendly accommodations. He shared Taiwan's diverse and friendly travel charm with the Thai public at the event. Chen Yi-ting, Director of the Tourism Administration's Bangkok Office, stated that Thailand is a very important and mature market for Taiwan in Southeast Asia. Many tourists have visited Taiwan before and are interested in new attractions and activities. She said, "Through the influence of influencers and offline events, we hope to show the Thai public in-depth tours with different themes." She gave an example of the LGBTQ+ route, which includes not only rainbow-related attractions but also gender-friendly hotels, ensuring that friendliness is not just a promotional image but is implemented in accommodation and travel services. Koendanai, who personally visited Taiwan with his partner, told Radio Taiwan International (RTI) that Taiwan's LGBTQ+ travel environment is surprisingly welcoming and very friendly. He pointed out that he sometimes wore jeans and sometimes dresses, and along the way, he mostly received positive and supportive glances. Furthermore, he didn't feel afraid when holding hands or expressing affection with his partner. "If you are looking for a travel destination that is friendly to gay people or LGBTQ+, I highly recommend Taiwan." Koendanai also mentioned that he strongly felt the friendly atmosphere of Taiwanese society towards the LGBTQ+ community and referred to Taiwan's same-sex marriage system. He noted that when the rights of diverse groups are regressing in some regions, Taiwan provides a safer travel space for LGBTQ+ travelers. In addition to influencers sharing their travel experiences in Taiwan, the event also featured large-scale immersive interactive segments, attracting over 300 audience members to participate in a digital quiz competition, creating a lively atmosphere.
