The U.S. State Department released a "List of Facts" on the 10th, stating that during President Donald Trump's term, over 175,000 visas for foreign nationals were revoked, many involving crimes violating visa regulations, drunk driving, and even endangering national security.
The "List of Facts" shows that during Trump's term, the State Department revoked over 175,000 visas due to foreign nationals violating visa regulations, including engaging in criminal activities, inciting attacks on U.S. citizens, fraud, abusing the immigration system, or endangering national security.
Revoked cases primarily occurred when visa holders were encountered by law enforcement for engaging in criminal activities, violent assaults, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, theft, and drug-related offenses. Many were involved in reckless driving, sexual offenses, child abuse, fraud, and other crimes.
The list indicates that the State Department continuously reviews visas to ensure holders comply with regulations, do not endanger public safety, and revokes visas for foreign nationals involved in activities that harm the safety of U.S. citizens, violent crimes, arranging illegal birth tourism, or fraud.
Reasons for revocation and deportation also include those prosecuted for serious crimes such as rape, and those arrested for drunk driving or driving under the influence of drugs.
Additionally, U.S. embassies in North Africa have revoked over a hundred birth tourism visas, where holders travel to the U.S. to give birth so their children can become U.S. citizens. Some foreign nationals were also prosecuted for child sexual assault, possessing child sexual abuse material, heroin use, and driving under the influence of alcohol; several had their visas revoked after expressing approval following the assassination attempt on well-known right-wing political commentator Charlie Kirk.
Individual cases also include foreign nationals involved in healthcare fraud amounting to $5 million and setting up investment companies for fundraising scams.
The list states that Secretary of State Marco Rubio, considering foreign policy, decided to deport individuals associated with the Cuban communist government and the Iranian regime, a Laotian child sexual offender pardoned by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and a Kuwaiti national who threatened the president.
The State Department stated, "A visa is a privilege, not a right," and will continue to identify, investigate, and cancel visas for foreign nationals who threaten the American public. (Editor: Liu Xianghua)
