[Life] Taiwan-Thailand Agricultural Departments Online Meeting Focuses on AI Applications

On the 11th, the Ministry of Agriculture held an "Online Meeting on Agricultural Spatial Information Technology and Survey Application Exchange between Taiwan and Thailand" with the Ministry of Agriculture of Thailand, focusing on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Twin, and other technologies in agriculture.
The Ministry of Agriculture issued a press release stating that the online meeting between the agricultural ministries of Taiwan and Thailand was co-chaired by Fu Tzu-yu, Director-General of the Ministry of Agriculture's Department of International Affairs, and Narong Boonsatheanwong, Representative of the Thailand Trade and Economic Office.
The Ministry of Agriculture stated that in the face of common challenges such as climate change, food security, and agricultural labor shortages, AI and digital technologies have become important tools for enhancing agricultural production and governance efficiency. They look forward to further integrating smart agriculture technologies into practical applications through technological exchanges between Taiwan and Thailand.
The Ministry of Agriculture of Thailand pointed out that AI smart agriculture is an important future direction for cooperation between the two sides. Thailand plans to invite Taiwan to participate in AI smart agriculture exchanges in September this year to deepen discussions on topics such as smart monitoring, agricultural net-zero, and digital governance, seeking opportunities for technical cooperation and practical application.
The Ministry of Agriculture said that Thailand shared its experience in building GIS portals, digital twins, and tree databases during this meeting. Taiwan introduced its achievements, including the national farmland parcel map, agricultural street view imaging system, and AI image interpretation, demonstrating how to integrate satellite, drone, and ground imagery data to enhance farmland management, land use monitoring, crop surveys, and anomaly early warning capabilities using AI. Both sides also exchanged experiences on AI image recognition, spatial information integration, and agricultural carbon sinks.
The Ministry of Agriculture stated that since Taiwan and Thailand signed the Agricultural and Fishery Cooperation Agreement in 2003, they have continuously deepened their partnership through the Taiwan-Thailand Agricultural Cooperation Meeting. In the future, both sides will continue to seek suitable pilot sites and cooperation opportunities to promote the verification and application of technologies such as AI, big data, the Internet of Things, and spatial information, further advancing Taiwan-Thailand smart agriculture cooperation towards practical application.
