The mainland Chinese Ministry of National Defense announced on the 11th that the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the Indonesian Navy held a navigation exercise in the waters east of Taiwan in mid-August. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today (12th) strongly condemned China for disregarding international norms and responsibilities and escalating regional tensions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that after clarification, it can currently be confirmed that among all parties concerned around the First Island Chain, only Beijing engages in malicious provocations and irresponsible actions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press release this morning, pointing out that regarding China's repeated disregard for international norms and responsibilities, further escalating regional tensions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns China's arbitrary and irresponsible behavior.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that concerning China's unilateral claim that Indonesia would participate in the so-called "exercise," Taiwan immediately sought understanding from all parties regarding the relevant situation and requested clarification from the Indonesian side. It can currently be confirmed that among all parties concerned around the First Island Chain, only the Beijing authorities engage in such malicious provocations, irresponsible, and unilateral actions that bring unease and threats to the region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that as a responsible member of the region, Taiwan will uphold its consistent stance of defending its territory, actively safeguard the sovereignty and sovereign rights of the waters east of Taiwan, and cooperate with all parties in the region to jointly ensure freedom of navigation and regional security and stability in the relevant waters.
The Chinese Ministry of National Defense announced on the 11th that in mid-August, the naval vessel Honghe will hold a navigation exercise with the Indonesian naval frigate "Raden Eddy Martadinata" in the "waters east of Taiwan Island," focusing on subjects such as communication drills and maritime replenishment.
