The 2026 Taiwan Cultural and Creative Industries Expo (CCIE) brand exhibition concluded today (12th). The Ministry of Culture announced the results, with the total transaction value of the exhibition reaching approximately NT$1.65 billion, a 22% increase from last year's NT$1.35 billion, setting a new historical record. The number of professional visitors exceeded 41,000, and over 640 business matchmaking sessions were completed. The "Black Tide Star Paradise" exhibition alone saw 41 contracts signed during its run. #Reported by Radio Taiwan International (RTI) correspondent Chiang Chao-lun#
The Ministry of Culture stated that the conclusion of this year's CCIE brand exhibition not only saw a record-high transaction value but also broke records in terms of exhibition space, participating brands, and booth usage. Professional visitor numbers surpassed 41,000, a 46.4% increase from last year's 28,000. Additionally, 53 international brands from Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and other regions participated, attracting over 200 domestic and international professional buyers.
IP licensing emerged as another major highlight this year. The fully upgraded "Black Tide Star Paradise - Fantasy Star Theater" brought together image IPs from two sessions of the Black Tide Project, along with over 40 booths featuring animation, VR, and more. During the exhibition, it facilitated 41 contract signings between IP brands such as "Tea Girl," "Peng Peng Red Bean," and "Little Cat Island" and domestic and international enterprises, a 173% increase from last year's 15 contracts. The second session of the Black Tide Project has cumulatively completed 88 contract signings.
Deputy Minister of Culture Wang Shih-sze stated that this year has seen significant growth in both on-site foot traffic and transaction numbers. In addition to the exhibition layout becoming increasingly aligned with needs, she observed that after years of accumulation, exhibitors have become more familiar with transforming their creations into commercially viable models for negotiation and licensing. Wang Shih-sze: "(Original sound) The CCIE makes people feel that the business model can gradually mature. Everyone has indeed learned and adjusted through this model. This approach, therefore, when foreign buyers come or licensors arrive, they also feel that they can negotiate and cooperate more effectively through a business model."
Wang Shih-sze pointed out that many exhibition booths this year have further transformed IPs into concrete product prototypes. For instance, IPs suitable for food licensing were directly presented in food form; those suitable for animation development had animation demos produced; and those for games were showcased through game advertisements, allowing buyers to directly envision how character or image IPs could be applied in the commercial market, thereby increasing the possibility of successful collaborations.
She also observed that a key characteristic of participating creators this year is their increased understanding of thinking from the user and consumer perspective. Whether in exhibition presentation or story design, they place greater emphasis on how to communicate with consumers, moving beyond simply creating for their own enjoyment to considering why consumers would like their creations, thus enhancing their design and business communication skills.
The Ministry of Culture announced that this year's brand exhibition introduced online reservations and staggered entry for the first time, with over 100,000 people completing reservations and an satisfaction rate exceeding 80%. After the conclusion of the brand exhibition, the cultural exhibitions of the Taiwan CCIE will continue to be displayed at the Air Force Command Headquarters' National Cultural and Creative Park until August 31st.
