[International] 7.7 Magnitude Earthquake Off Eastern Indonesia Prompts Tsunami Warning

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported that a magnitude 7.7 earthquake occurred off the eastern coast of Indonesia this morning (15th). The earthquake struck at 5:58 AM local time (6:58 AM Taiwan time), at a depth of 10 kilometers. The epicenter was located 68 kilometers north-northwest of Ende city in East Nusa Tenggara province. The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued a tsunami warning and urged residents to stay away from beaches and riverbanks. The BMKG located the epicenter of this shallow undersea earthquake near Flores Island. Authorities advised residents in affected coastal areas to move to higher ground and to closely monitor coastal tide changes.
