Many new immigrants or foreign friends in Taiwan need to obtain a TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) certificate for job seeking or further studies. Actually, registering for the TOEIC in Taiwan is very simple, but there are very strict regulations regarding identification documents! This article provides a complete guide from registration to taking the exam. Save it quickly! 1. Account Registration and Test Registration All TOEIC registrations in Taiwan are done online. Please visit the official Taiwan TOEIC website (www.toeic.com.tw) to proceed. Register Account: Click on "Login/Register" to create a personal account. Note: The English name registered must exactly match the name on your "Passport" or "ARC (Alien Resident Certificate)"! Select Test: Click on "Test Registration." The most commonly taken test is the "Listening & Reading Test." Test Center Selection: The system will provide test centers in various regions such as North, Central, and South (usually university campuses). Please choose a suitable date and location based on your personal schedule. 2. Payment Methods Taiwan's payment system is very convenient. You can choose one of the following three methods: Credit Card: Online payment is the fastest and most convenient. Convenience Store Payment: The system will generate a barcode. You can take this barcode directly to convenience stores like 7-11, FamilyMart, Hi-Life, or OK Mart, present it to the cashier, and pay in cash. ATM Transfer: You can transfer funds via an physical ATM or online banking. Test Fee: The current registration fee is approximately NT$1,700 (the actual fee is subject to the latest announcement on the official website at the time of registration). 🚨 3. Absolutely Crucial "Identification Document" Regulations This is where most foreign residents make mistakes! The document verification at Taiwan test centers is very strict. If you bring the wrong document, you will not be allowed to enter, and no refund will be given. On the day of the exam, you must bring one of the following "original" documents: Valid Passport Valid ARC (Alien Resident Certificate) ❌ The test center absolutely does not accept the following documents: National Health Insurance Card Student ID Card Driver's License Photocopies or mobile phone photos of your passport or ARC 4. Items to Bring on Test Day To ensure a smooth exam, please double-check your bag before leaving: Valid original identification document (Passport or ARC mentioned above). 2B Pencil: It is recommended to bring at least two sharpened 2B pencils or 2B mechanical pencils. Borrowing is not available at the test center. Eraser: Choose one with good erasing power that won't tear the answer sheet. Watch: Only "analog" watches are allowed. Electronic watches, smartwatches like Apple Watch, or any device that makes noise are strictly prohibited. 5. Score Inquiry and Score Report Delivery Online Inquiry: Approximately 12 to 15 days after the test, you can log in to the official website to check your score. Physical Score Report: The paper score report will be mailed via post to the Taiwan mailing address you provided during registration after the online scores are released. Please ensure the address is filled in correctly! 💡 Helpful Tips: The air conditioning in Taiwan test centers is usually very strong. It is recommended to bring a light jacket to avoid catching a cold, which could affect your test performance. Please arrive at the test center at least 30 minutes before the exam to allow time to find the classroom and complete check-in procedures. The test center will close exactly at the scheduled start time, and latecomers will be denied entry. Wishing all new immigrants and foreign friends success in their preparation and a high TOEIC score!
