Kaohsiung Daliao Unlicensed Ballroom Raided Late at Night, Over 200 Partying; Police Seize Drugs and 22 Missing Migrant Workers

An unlicensed ballroom in Daliao District, Kaohsiung City, attracts a large number of foreign migrant workers every holiday. To prevent public safety hazards, the Linyuan Police Precinct, along with units from the Immigration Agency, Drug Prevention Agency, and Fire Department, conducted an expanded joint inspection early this morning.
When the police stormed in, the music was deafening, and the venue was packed with over 200 people partying (mostly Vietnamese, with a few Taiwanese and Thai nationals). The police subsequently found a bag of discarded drug-laced coffee, 9 sticks of ketamine cigarettes, 7 unknown pills, and a ketamine kit on the ground, but no one present admitted to possessing them.
The police used a large bus to take the Taiwanese owner, Mr. Yang (50 years old), and all over 200 people present back to the precinct for identity verification and urine tests. It was discovered that 22 of them (aged 20 to 30) were undocumented migrant workers, and one of them was a fugitive wanted for fraud by the Kaohsiung District Prosecutor's Office.
After police questioning, the fugitive wanted for fraud was handed over to the authorities, and the remaining 21 undocumented migrant workers were transferred to the Immigration Agency for processing. Regarding the unlicensed operation of the ballroom, the police will compile the information and report it to the Economic Development Bureau to order its closure.
