The divorce saga of Chen Hsing-yu, daughter of former President Chen Shui-bian, continues. Her ex-husband, Chao Chien-ming, returned to Taiwan last night (20th). A large number of media outlets were waiting at Kaohsiung Airport. After entering the country, Chao Chien-ming remained silent and only distributed a statement, emphasizing that if either party fails to maintain confidentiality and infringes upon privacy, they should compensate NT$100 million.
Chao Chien-ming flew back to Taiwan from Vietnam. He was originally scheduled to arrive at Kaohsiung Airport on Vietnam Airlines at 10 p.m. last night, but due to a nearly one-hour flight delay, Chao Chien-ming cleared immigration around 11 p.m. He wore a mask and distributed an A4 paper at the scene. After being swarmed by media, he insisted on not being interviewed, only saying, "Please look at point 8."
The paper distributed by Chao Chien-ming at the scene was titled "Divorce Agreement," stating that the parties to the agreement were Chen Hsing-yu (Party A) and Chao Chien-ming (Party B). This document did not bear the signatures of Chao Chien-ming or Chen Hsing-yu.
This statement listed 9 points of agreement. Point 1 stated, "Both parties have no intention of continuing the marital relationship, agree to divorce, and will register the divorce with the household registration office." Points 2 through 7 were not presented in the statement, only point 8 was shown: "Both parties shall keep secret all personal life, career, and related privacy during the marriage, as well as the details during the agreement period, and shall not disclose, criticize, or defame them in any form to the outside world; if a violation causes the privacy of either party or their relatives to be infringed, that party shall compensate a punitive amount of NT$100 million."
As Chao Chien-ming's friends had mentioned that he would issue a statement after arriving in Taiwan, a large number of media outlets waited at Kaohsiung Airport. However, after entering the country, Chao Chien-ming insisted on not being interviewed when questioned by the media. During the process, there was pushing and shoving, and a reporter fell.
