Recently, relevant Taiwanese authorities have cracked down on a shocking international drug smuggling case. This incident is not only a painful lesson but also a crucial warning to all friends living and working in Taiwan! 📰 Case Summary: On April 6th this year, at Kaohsiung Xiaogang Airport, a 35-year-old Thai Muay Thai female coach was apprehended attempting to smuggle drugs by swallowing them. She ingested as many as 72 capsules of heroin. To allow the drugs to pass naturally, special agents kept her under 24-hour watch in the hospital for 10 days, enduring the foul odor. The black market value of this batch of drugs is as high as NT$3.6 million! Law enforcement officials stated that this was purely "trading life for money," because if the capsule's outer membrane were to rupture in the stomach due to gastric acid, the drug would instantly enter the bloodstream, leading to death within minutes. 🚨 Strict Legal Warning from Taiwan, Please Read Carefully: Through this case, RtiTalk wants to specifically remind our community friends that Taiwan has very strict penalties for drug offenses. Do not harbor any侥幸 (jǐng xìng -侥幸) mentality: 1️⃣ Maximum Penalty: Death Penalty or Life Imprisonment: According to Taiwan's "Drug Hazard Prevention and Control Act," heroin is classified as the most dangerous "Category 1" drug. Any act of manufacturing, transporting (including bringing into the country), or selling Category 1 drugs can result in the death penalty or life imprisonment, along with a fine of up to NT$30 million. 2️⃣ Helping Carry Luggage Can Also Lead to Trouble: Many migrant workers or foreign nationals are often deceived or tempted by high "carrying fees" to help strangers or friends carry luggage at the airport. Please be aware that if drugs are found in the luggage, you will also be prosecuted for the serious crime of "drug trafficking" and face a lengthy prison sentence! 3️⃣ Permanent Deportation: Foreign nationals who violate drug laws in Taiwan must first serve their prison sentence in Taiwan. After release, they will face immediate deportation and will be permanently banned from re-entering Taiwan. 💡 RtiTalk's Friendly Reminder: Absolutely never help anyone (even acquaintances) transport or carry luggage at the airport unless you are 100% certain of its contents. Refuse to participate in any "carrying" or "errand" jobs with unknown origins or unreasonably high rewards. Strictly adhere to all entry regulations of Taiwan Customs. Do not let a moment of greed, soft-heartedness, or carelessness cost you your life, future, and family. Let us work together to maintain a safe and lawful community environment in Taiwan! #RtiTalk #LegalAwareness #SayNoToDrugs #TaiwanCustoms #MigrantWorkerAndNewResidentInformation #SafetyFirst
