[International] US Aircraft Carrier Lincoln Arrives in Thailand for First Port Call in 9 Months

The US aircraft carrier "USS Abraham Lincoln," which has been controversial due to its onboard conditions, arrived in Thailand today (2nd), marking its first port call in nine months.
The "Lincoln," carrying 5,000 sailors and Marines, sailed towards the Thai resort town of Pattaya after departing the Middle East. Pattaya has been a leisure and rest spot for US forces since the Vietnam War.
According to an AFP reporter, the large nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, with dozens of fighter jets lined up on its deck, sailed into Laem Chabang port this morning, guided by tugboats.
Major General Robert Loughran, commander of the US Third Carrier Strike Group (Carrier Strike Group 3), said in a statement, "Our arrival in Laem Chabang provides a well-deserved opportunity for rest and recuperation for our sailors and Marines."
Captain Dan Keeler, commander of the Lincoln, added that after 286 days at sea, this first port visit of a "historic deployment" will allow "our crew to enjoy this beautiful and historic country."
The "Lincoln" departed California in November 2025 for a mission in the South China Sea and was redeployed to the Middle East before the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran in February.
Reports of deteriorating living conditions onboard, including mental health concerns with suicide attempts, have garnered attention in the United States and sparked criticism of US President Donald Trump's decision to go to war with Iran. (Editor: Song Wanyuan)
