Legislators Su Ching-chuan and Chen Ying, along with Keelung City Council Speaker Tong Tzu-wei, registered today (2nd) to compete for the positions of Magistrate of Pingtung County, Magistrate of Taitung County, and Mayor of Keelung City, respectively.
KMT Legislator Su Ching-chuan registered today to run for Magistrate of Pingtung County. He stated that he has already formed a county affairs advisory group and can immediately start working. The incumbent Magistrate of Pingtung County, Chou Chun-mi, who is seeking re-election, is expected to register tomorrow.
Su Ching-chuan registered today at the Pingtung County Election Commission to run for Magistrate of Pingtung County, accompanied by KMT Vice Chairman Lee Chien-lung and several KMT Pingtung County councilors. In a media interview, Su Ching-chuan stated that he has successively proposed policies such as waiving health insurance fees for those over 65 and providing free school lunches, and that "the county government has followed suit one by one." Su Ching-chuan pointed out that he has formed a county affairs advisory group covering agriculture, fisheries, animal husbandry, transportation, technology, and education, headed by former Council of Agriculture Minister Chen Bao-ji. They are all ready to go and can immediately start working, and everyone is looking forward to it.
DPP-nominated candidate for Magistrate of Taitung County, Chen Ying, also completed her registration today, demonstrating the green camp's great unity, accompanied by former legislators Liu Chao-hao and Lai Kun-cheng. Both Liu and Lai, who had past grievances, said, "History has turned a new page," and they will work together to help Chen Ying win.
Chen Ying registered today at the Taitung County Government Auditorium to run for the next Magistrate of Taitung County, accompanied by DPP officials, DPP nominees for the nine-in-one elections, and tribal elders, showcasing a spirit of unity.
Chen Ying expressed her deep emotion at the green camp's display of great unity and thanked Liu Chao-hao, Lai Kun-cheng, Wu Li-hua, tribal members, and supporters. She responded with six words: "Unity, Responsibility, Governance."
Chen Ying stated that everyone comes from different fields and is united, confident in winning the year-end election. Next is responsibility; she will seize every minute and every day, grasp every hand in every corner of Taitung, and present one policy after another. In terms of governance, Rao Ching-ling has served two terms as magistrate, and the county's affairs have seen significant progress. She will inherit and continue what is good and supplement what is lacking to make Taitung better.
DPP candidate for Mayor of Keelung City, Tong Tzu-wei, registered today accompanied by the convener of his campaign headquarters and former President Tsai Ing-wen. Tsai Ing-wen said that Tong Tzu-wei will now begin to illuminate the west coast. Keelung Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang is promoting a smart marine city, hoping to make Keelung an international-class marine city in the future.
Tong Tzu-wei stated that his campaign philosophy is "a mayor for life," taking care of the elderly and youth, as well as commuters. Former President Tsai Ing-wen, then-Premier President Lai Ching-te, and former Mayor Lin Yu-chang opened up Keelung's east coast at the time. In the future, as mayor, he will cooperate with Premier Cho Jung-tai and President Lai to illuminate the west coast together.
Tong Tzu-wei pointed out that he will work hard to restore Keelung Port's competitiveness, making it a hub for commerce and tourism. He aims to achieve unity and collaboration between Keelung City and Keelung Port, improving citizens' lives with smooth transportation and a vibrant port, moving away from the stagnant present towards a hopeful future.
Seeking re-election, Hsieh Kuo-liang attended the "Keelung City 2030 Smart Marine City Vision Achievement Presentation" this morning. The city government stated that this project is executed by National Taiwan Ocean University, and the presentation focuses on six major vision themes: AI industry ecosystem and smart technology governance, industry revitalization, and space promotion.
Hsieh Kuo-liang said in an interview that he is very proud to have a complete, professional, and dedicated team building a visionary future for Keelung. Keelung is a city coexisting with the ocean, and no matter how industries develop in the future, they will be inseparable from the ocean. He thanked NTOU for developing a city development vision for Keelung. The city government will cooperate with NTOU, developing various businesses with the most serious attitude and the most precise policies, and will maintain close contact with NTOU to implement all areas effectively, making Keelung an international-class marine city.
After Hsieh Kuo-liang registered for re-election yesterday, many posts appeared on social media from suspected Vietnamese accounts commenting in simplified Chinese to express support for Hsieh Kuo-liang. Regarding this, Hsieh Kuo-liang said that this was absolutely not authorized or participated in by the mayor's office. He completely does not understand the whole story and felt puzzled when he saw it, "How could this happen?" He urged everyone to play Sherlock Holmes to uncover the truth, which might bring a smile to everyone's faces. (Editor: Sung Wan-yuan)
